Mourinho Only Has 'Dry Answers' For Benched Rashford & Martial

While midfielder Paul Pogba and defender Chris Smalling came up with the goods at the Etihad Stadium last weekend as Manchester United beat champions-elect Man City, Jose Mourinho spoke heavily about his attackers ahead of Sunday's game against West Brom.

The Times is reporting that the French striker has become "disillusioned" at his failure to hold down a regular spot in the first team at Old Trafford this season.

In the 12 games since Sanchez made his debut in the FA Cup win over Yeovil on January 2, Rashford has started just twice.

United's Portuguese coach once again reiterated that his main aim is to finish second in the Premier League this season.

While only Romelu Lukaku has played more than the 43 games the England worldwide has started for his club, just 22 of those have come from the beginning of games.

Asked if that standing at one of world football's biggest clubs gives him added satisfaction, the academy graduate said: "I think it does".

"So I think you are playing not only for yourself and for the club, but for all the people that are living that dream through you". You always go to the one (who isn't playing).

"At every club and every level, you need more than 11 players and only 11 can start, is as simple as that, there's nothing I can do".

The Manchester United manager said in a press conference when asked about Martial's situation: "If I was you I would go why [Romelu] Lukaku plays every match, why [Nemanja] Matic plays every match".

It is just football, we can not have just 11 players.

"We need the points and to finish fourth we need four or five points but to finish second we need much more than that".

Nevertheless, no player has made more appearances for United than Rashford's 98 since Mourinho took over at the start of last season- a fact a stoney-faced Mourinho was quick to point out when questioned about the England international's infrequent starting opportunities. I am surprised because of the quality and experience of numerous players and the squad.
