Christian Aid reveals sexual misconduct investigations following Oxfam accusations

She will meet with the charities regulator this week.

But the Charity Commission claims a report stated there had been no allegations of abuse and left out potential sex crimes involving children.

The government is looking to collect documents on the staff members who paid for sex during that time.

A spokeswoman for the Charities Commission said: "In August 2011, Oxfam made a report to the Commission about an ongoing internal investigation into allegations of misconduct by staff members involved in their Haiti programme".

Former global development secretary Priti Patel said she was aware of the issue of sexual misconduct and abuse in the aid sector, in general, adding there was "a culture of denial". It said significant improvements had been made since 2011.

Caroline Thomson, chair of Oxfam's trustees, announced a package of measures to show the organisation was committed to changing.

When it happened, she said, new whistle-blowing procedures, safeguarding practises and training were put in place.

'We also want to satisfy ourselves that we do now have a culture of openness and transparency and that we fully learn the lessons of events in 2011'.

Charity chief executive Mark Goldring insisted the UK-based organisation was "ashamed" of what took place on the Caribbean island of Haiti in 2010.

The invitation was delivered by North Korean leader's sister, Kim Yo Jong , who is in the south visiting the Winter Olympic Games. The North and South are bitter enemies and are technically at war together, having never officially ended the 1952 Korean War.

Major worldwide charity Oxfam is in hot water with the British government for having sex parties with Haitian prostitutes following the 2010 natural disaster that rattled the nation, killing 220,000 people.

What I'm apologising for is that nine Oxfam staff behaved in a way that was totally unacceptable and contrary to our values, and that led much more responsible staff to make decisions which are now seen by some as being marginal or inappropriate.

Asked by Andrew Marr whether she felt Oxfam's managers had failed in moral leadership, Ms Mordaunt said: "Yes, I do".

"If that organisation does not have the moral leadership to do the right thing and where they have evidence of criminal activity, to pass that information onto the relevant authorities, including prosecuting authorities, that's an absolute absence of leadership".

"If the moral leadership at the top of the organization isn't there, then we can't have you as a partner", she said.

However, some went on to senior roles at other charities that were not informed of their reasons for leaving Oxfam, it was reported.

Ms Mordaunt replied: 'Well, quite'.

Ms Mordaunt said she would write to British charities working overseas demanding they declare any problems relating to the duty they have to protect their staff and the people they work with from harm and abuse - so-called "safeguarding".

Oxfam has denied that they took part in any coverup thought according to reports they did not let the Haitian government what was happening which meant they were unable to take legal action against the employees involved.
