9 legal experts on what Flynn's plea deal means for Trump

Former Trump adviser Michael Flynn to plead guilty to lying to the FBI

Flynn pleaded guilty Friday to a single count of making material false statements during an interview with the Federal Bureau of Investigation on January 24 as part of a plea deal with Special Council Robert Mueller.

This attempt to curb prosecution of Flynn was part of the chain of events that led to Mueller's appointment as special counsel. In the first statement Flynn made on December 29, 2016, Flynn denied making a request to a Russian ambassador to "refrain from escalating the situation" after the U.S. imposed sanctions on Russia and Flynn denied recalling that the Russian ambassador then stated they will "moderate" their response due the the request. Flynn also denied receiving a response to the request.

The Special Counsel's probe has found illegal behavior stretching into the senior most levels of the White House.

This guilty plea also comes on the heels of a new report about the President's efforts to silence the independent, bipartisan Senate investigation into ties between Trump associates and Russian Federation.

Days after Flynn's interview with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, then-acting attorney general, Sally Yates alerted White House counsel Don McGahn that Flynn was potentially compromised and vulnerable to blackmail because of discrepancies between public assertions - including by Vice President Mike Pence - that Flynn and Kislyak had not discussed sanctions and the reality of what occurred.

Flynn was on the campaign trail with Trump from early on and, as well as the fact he was involved in the transition period, his business dealings and foreign interactions have given him a special focus for Mueller.

Michael Flynn's guilty plea opens more doors than it closes.

The Apple-Qualcomm patent feud expands to the Snapdragon processor
The complaint was particularly limited to devices using Intel modems instead of those built by Qualcomm and its sub-contractors. On November 29, Apple filed a suit against Qualcomm alleging that Qualcomm's Snapdragon chips infringed on Apple patents.

Flynn was forced to resign in February after intelligence leaks showed he had lied to Pence and other senior USA government officials about his conversations with Kislyak in late December, when Trump was still president-elect. Administration officials said Flynn had not discussed sanctions that had been imposed on Russian Federation in part over election meddling.

Michael Flynn was charged with "willfully and knowingly" making "false, fictitious and fraudulent statements". The rest of the 15-nation council, including Russian Federation, voted unanimously against Israel.

Israel was lobbying against the resolution and President-elect Trump's team spoke up on behalf of the Jewish state.

The vote occurred a day later, with Trump tweeting after: "As to the United Nations, things will be different after January 20th".

Flynn's new cooperation with the special counsel investigation is somewhat expected after he cut ties with the White House's lawyers last week.

Former FBI director James Comey has testified before Congress that the president asked him to drop any investigation of Flynn: "I hope you can see your way clear to letting this go, to letting Flynn go", Trump told Comey, according to the since-fired FBI director.

Comey has said the encounter unnerved him so much that he prepared an internal memo about it.
