O'Reilly says he was one of many accused at Fox

Fox News signed ex-anchor Bill O'Reilly to new contract one month after he settled $32 million sexual harassment

Bill O'Reilly agreed to pay $32 million to resolve sexual harassment claims lodged by a frequent guest of his former Fox News program, The New York Times reported Saturday - an enormous, previously undisclosed settlement reached weeks before the disgraced pundit received a pay raise from the network's parent company.

"The Times printed leaked information provided by anonymous sources that is out of context, false, defamatory, and obviously created to embarrass Bill O'Reilly and to keep him from competing in the marketplace", O'Reilly's spokesman Mark Fabiani said in a statement.

The Times reports that 21st Century Fox bigwigs Rupert Murdoch and his sons, Lachlan and James, the top executives at 21st Century Fox, made a business decision to keep O'Reilly despite the harassment charges by Wiehl. However, after other sex scandal allegations broke publicly about O'Reilly, he was sacked by Fox News.

Here are the facts: after the Chairman of Fox News Roger Ailes was sacked in July 2016, dozens of women accused scores of male employees of Fox News of harassment - including the current co-president of Fox News Jack Abernathy. He died less than a year later this past at the age of 77.

21st Century Fox settled nearly all these cases, paying out close to $100 million.

Saturday saw a new investigative report from the New York Times, which provided details of a sixth settlement (paid by O'Reilly) for the astronomical sum of $32 million to accuser Lis Wiehl. They agreed that all communications between her and O'Reilly would be destroyed, and she signed an affidavit saying she had "no claims against Bill O'Reilly concerning any of those emails or any of the allegations in the draft complaint", according to the Times.

Amid the turmoil, 21st Century Fox had been facing legal and regulatory pressure, particularly its need to improve its image while seeking approval from British regulators to buy the European satellite company Sky.

Diwali 2017: Air quality deteriorates in Delhi, Mumbai as pollution levels soar
If the air quality deteriorates further, even healthy people with no respiratory conditions are going to be affected. Data collected from different sources on Tuesday and Wednesday midnight revealed a sharp spike in pollution.

The settlement was by far the largest of a half dozen deals made by O'Reilly or the company to settle harassment allegations against the host, according to the newspaper. The New York Times first reported the previous five settlements in April, spurring outcry that ended in Mr. O'Reilly's ouster.

The story really rattled cages because it reported Fox News renewed O'Reilly's contract - for $25 million per year for four years - after O'Reilly reached a settlement with Wiehl.

O'Reilly blasted the article Saturday as "another smear".

"Hypocrisy much?" Lemon wrote on Twitter, tagging both O'Reilly and Fox News.

The company said it has taken numerous steps to change its workplace environment.
