Ford recalling 1.3 million F-series pickups

2017 Ford Super Duty

2015-17 F-150, built at Dearborn Assembly Plant, March 12, 2014 to December 31, 2016.

According to the recall from Ford, a frozen door latch or bent or kinked actuation in the affected trucks is causing the issue.

The recall involves 1,344,605 vehicles in North America, including 1,101,107 in the United States and federalized territories, 222,408 in Canada and 21,090 in Mexico.

The Ford Motor Company is recalling more than one million F-Series pickup trucks due to door latch flaws that could cause vehicle doors to unexpectedly open.

The Fix: Dealers will install water shields over the door latches to prevent water from seeping inside for free.

Of course, then it depends on which model is being tested, because both Microsoft and Apple offer several different chip options. Surface Book 2 is powered by either a seventh-generation Intel Core i5 or eighth-generation Intel Core i7 quad-core processor.

Even if customers are able to open and close the door, that latch may not fully engage, meaning the door could fling open while driving, Ford warned.

Ford says it has no reports of accidents or injuries associated with the problem. Ford estimates the cost of the recall at $267 million.

2015-17 F-150, built at Kansas City Assembly Plant, Aug. 11, 2014 to December 30, 2016.

The average transaction price for a new pickup in 2016 topped $39,000, and it could rise with the introduction earlier this month of Ford's Super Duty Limited vehicles that start at $80,235 for an F-250, $82,010 for an F-350 and $87,100 for an F-450.

The F-Series has been the company's best-selling vehicle, and the Super Duty, made exclusively at Kentucky Truck Plant, has helped prop up profits because consumers increasingly are opting for higher-end models of the work truck. Through the first nine months of the year, the company has sold almost 600,000 F-Series pickups, up 10.6 percent from the same period in 2016. Ford expects this to change its annual adjusted earnings from $1.65 to $1.85 per share.
