Little-known Stephen King short story to be expanded to feature film

Pennywise the Dancing Clown as portrayed by Bill Skarsgård in 2017's IT

With children disappearing in the town of Derry, Maine, it's up to a bunch of kids usually seen as the outcasts to square off against an evil clown named Pennywise. He creates a positive leader for the rest of the club to follow, even with his own personal demons, such as his stutter and his brother's disappearance. Ben Hanscom grows up to be an architect, and the standpipe seen in his postcard to Beverly will play a big role in the sequel's story. Neither were bad, but they didn't equal the performances given by their co-stars.

"Even the character in the movie 'It" should be understood to be a fantasy character - not a true clown. Taylor feels more like an exposition machine than a character. Maturin explains to Bill how to defeat Pennywise, and that leads into the end of the childhood storyline.

While plenty of credit can be given to the costume and makeup departments, Skarsgård himself must be credited the most for bringing Pennywise to life. Director Andy Muschietti really does a great job of having a mixture of jump scares and suspense-filled moments. This film is one of my favorite horror movies of all time and possibly one of my favorite movies ever. As the film goes on, each member of the club has their own experience with a odd entity in the form of Pennywise the dancing clown, or "It" as the kids refer to him. By filming in twisted angles, quick cuts and wide shots, it intensifies the horror of the story.

The story is relatively brief, so it's not clear how Carter intends to expand it to feature length or just what he plans to do with that climactic scene, which to be frank, I can't imagine playing too well with mainstream audiences.

NASA's Cassini Spacecraft Ends Mission With Plunge Into Saturn
What do you think of these final Cassini images? MOONS: Saturn has 62 known moons, including six discovered by Cassini. Future missions to the ice giants might explore those worlds using an approach similar to Cassini's mission.

On the other hand, the more traditional effects are realistic beyond compare.

Now that IT has come out in theaters and has been made into an absolute hit you know what that means for the upcoming holiday.

Rather than cramming King's 1138-page novel into one movie, IT has been split into two, self-contained films. As a huge fan of the 1990 TV mini-series, I knew before watching the new version that it would be quite different. Along the way, the group is plagued by sociopathic bullies, distant adults and a shapeshifting demon who goes by Pennywise (Skarsgård).
