Four subplots from Friday at the Evian Championship

So Yeon Ryu of South Korea follows the flight of her ball after playing on the 10th hole during the first round of the Evian Championship women's golf tournament in Evian eastern France Thursday Sept. 14 2017

Sung Hyun Park made the most of her reprieve Friday at the Evian Championship.

The Korean hit 16 of 18 greens and made it around in 26 putts, a far cry from the start she had on Thursday when she was six-over par on her first nine when play was suspended due to severe weather.

With the tournament reduced to 54 holes, Park recovered her composure yesterday, to effectively go from last to first inside 24 hours.

Park admitted that the Tour decision had represented a good break - "I guess it was for me, yes", said the 23-year-old who won her first major, the US Open, in July.

She has ground to make up on Park, one of the form players of 2017. When she moved to 7 under for the day with yet another birdie at her 11th hole all sorts of possibilities began to open up but a bogey at the 13th slowed the momentum.

The 2015 tournament champion felt relaxed throughout her round.

Korda was joined on a four-under-par 67 by fellow American Alex Marina and South Korea's Kim Kyung-in. "It looks like it's plenty of good chances out there today", Jutanugarn said.

Park rolled in from six feet to birdie the second but bogeyed the fourth after finding rough off the tee, only to bounce back by picking up a shot at the seventh and adding a two-putt gain at the ninth.

As the state continued to piece itself back together, President Trump was due to visit Naples in southwestern Florida on Thursday. She adds that utility providers have said they hope to have power restored for all of southeastern Florida by the weekend.

"But I was surprised".

The Thai golfer, whose younger sister, Ariya, won the 2016 Women's British Open, has never won on Tour.

"It sucked because I was playing so well yesterday, and some people weren't playing so well yesterday that are playing well today, and there's nothing I can do about that", Korda said. "Just trying to give myself a chance for birdie".

For the second consecutive day, Queenslander Kirk led out the field overnight, but rather than drenched on the ultimately cancelled day one, this time she left the course with a share of third in the year's final major.

Georgia Hall leads the English interest and lies in the group on three under alongside Lydia Ko and former world No 1 Ai Miyazoto, who is making her final major appearance before retiring.

The LPGA also decided Thursday to shorten the championship to 54 holes, which leaves just two rounds for players to catch Park.

American Paula Creamer, the 2005 victor at Evian, had to pull out with a wrist injury that had started to cause trouble earlier in the week.

"Right now, nothing to lose, and no fear and just feel joy of my game, and that's definitely helping", Miyazato said about her day.
