Vehicle hits people at Charlottesville rally - several injured

Woman Troopers Killed After White Supremacist Rally

Hundreds of counter-protesters were marching in the Bay Area to decry racism in the wake of deadly violence that erupted at a white nationalist demonstration in Charlottesville, Virginia.

Police say his vehicle ploughed into a crowd of people peacefully protesting against the white nationalist rally, killing the woman and injuring at least two dozen others. The 20-year-old is from Maumee, Ohio, outside of Toledo.

James Alex Fields, Jr, a registered Republican, was booked in jail on suspicaion of second-degree murder, according to the Washington Post.

One person died and 19 were injured Saturday when a auto rammed a crowd of counterprotesters gathered to oppose a "Unite the Right" rally of white nationalist and other right-wing groups.

Charlottesville city government said late on Saturday, that one person had been killed and 34 injured in the events.

Anthony Scaramucci says White House 'plotters' are working to oust Donald Trump
It's not serving the president's interests. "He likes doing the opposite of what the media thinks he's going to do". He said the "toleration of [white supremacy] by Steve Bannon is inexcusable".

In Philadelphia, another vigil in response to the Charlottesville violence is scheduled to take place Saturday night at city hall at 7 p.m. Two police officers were later killed while trying to assist in operations to quell the violence, after their helicopter crashed.

Officials in Charlottesville had approved the right-wing rally for August 12 - a protest against the city's decision to remove a statue of General Robert E. Lee, the Confederate military leader during the American Civil War. The news agency says Bloom became visibly upset as she learned of the injuries and deaths at the rally.

Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe (D) confirmed the casualties and delivered a simple message to white supremacists and Nazis: "Go home". We recognize that it is our differences that make us stronger, that it is our love for each other that sustains us and that only by standing together we will keep out community safe and strong. "We are going to fulfill the promises of Donald Trump". "These were white supremacists and this was domestic terrorism".

President Donald Trump condemned the violence, but did not specifically mention white nationalists, neo-Nazis, or their views, instead criticising hatred and violence "on many sides", reports The Hill magazine.
