Iran Parliament ratifies motion to counter US' 'terrorist' acts

Iran's parliament on Sunday approved an increased budget for the country's ballistic missile programme and the regional operations of its Revolutionary Guard, in defiance of USA sanctions imposed last month over Tehran's testing of new missile technology.

The bill was submitted to the Majlis Presiding Board, by the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Defense, Intelligence, as well as the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC), the IRGC Quds Force, and the Islamic Republic Army.

The bill secured 240 yes votes and one abstention.

"The world may be stable only on the basis of equal rights of the countries", he continued, but this does not exempt countries from their obligations for the worldwide community.

The additional U.S. sanctions put in place last month directly target the missile programme and the IRGC. In response to this, Iran complained to the UN Security Council about the US sanctions and accused Washington of breaching the nuclear deal.

Iran denies its missile programme violates a United Nations resolution which endorsed Tehran's 2015 nuclear deal with world powers and calls upon the Islamic Republic not to conduct activities related to ballistic missiles created to deliver nuclear weapons.

Sanchez hit hard in Tigers loss to Twins
The red hot Twins had won eight of ten before their pitching was hammered Saturday in a 12-11 defeat at the Detroit Tigers . The Minnesota Twins extended their winning streak to six games after knocking off the Detroit Tigers 9-4 Friday night.

The bill mandates the government to allocate an additional 260 million dollars for the "development of the missile programme" and the same amount to the Revolutionary Guards's foreign operations wing, the Quds Force, state news agency IRNA said.

After the result was announced, lawmakers shouted: "Death to America".

Devising the Sunday motion, the Parliament took great care not to violate the nuclear accord and provide excuses for opposing sides, spokesman for Parliament's Committee on National Security and Foreign Policy Hossein Naqavi Hosseini said.

A string of close encounters between United States ships and Iranian vessels in the Gulf in recent months has added to the tensions between the two countries.

Tehran's sanctions aim to ban such persons from entering Iran, confiscate their assets within the powers of the Islamic republic, and block their financial transactions.
