Trump says Mueller's friendship with Comey is 'very bothersome'

23 de junio de 2017, 16:23Washington, June 23 (Prensa Latina) Twice as many USA citizens say they are more likely to believe former FBI Director James Comey than President Donald Trump, according to a new poll. "And my story didn't change - my story was always a straight story, my story always was the truth".

Mr Trump argued that Mr Mueller is "good friends" with Mr Comey, who was Mr Mueller's successor as director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. According to The New York Times, the wording of the tweet was reviewed and approved by both White House Counsel and Trump's outside legal counsel.

Mr Trump wrote on Twitter yesterday, a day before the deadline, that he did not know if there were recordings of his conversations with Mr Comey, but he did not make or have any such recordings.

In Friday's Fox News interview, Trump also suggested - in confusing language - that a third party, possibly another arm of the government, could have recorded the conversations without his or Comey's knowledge.

Mr Comey was leading the investigation into allegations that Russian Federation tried to sway the election towards Mr Trump when the President fired him on May 9.

The two-paragraph letter to the committee, signed not by White House Counsel Don McGahn but by Marc Short, assistant to the president for legislative affairs, simply referred the committee to a statement Trump made on Twitter earlier in the week.

"It's an awesome thing", Trump said in another Fox interview that is scheduled to air on Sunday, excerpts from which were released Friday afternoon.

On Fox & Friends on Friday morning, Trump said that "when [Comey] found out that there may be tapes out there - whether it's governmental tapes or anything else, and who knows - I think his story may have changed".

Jurors sent home after a day of deadlock and deliberation
The jury of seven men and five women started discussing the closing thoughts of the affair on Monday night. So even if Cosby is only found guilty of one, he could potentially spend the rest of his life in jail.

The president did not, however, say what may have changed, only saying that investigative reporting may uncover more.

While the president said he believed Mr Mueller was an "honourable man", he also pointed out that he was friends with Mr Comey, the man controversially fired by the president last month. "He did admit that what I said was right".

Praised by Earhardt for what she dubbed a "smart" move, the president retorted, "Well, it wasn't very stupid, I can tell you that".

Those accusations are believed to now be part of an independent Justice Department probe into possible illegal obstruction of the investigation by the President. Allegations of ties to Russian Federation have cast a shadow over Trump's first five months in office, distracting from attempts by his fellow Republicans in Congress to overhaul the United States healthcare and tax systems.

Trump has disputed Comey's assertion that Trump asked Comey for a pledge of loyalty during a dinner meeting they had.

Comey explained the process during the Senate Intelligence Committee hearing. "The whole thing is ridiculous, if you want to know the truth, from that standpoint". "There are multiple obstruction crimes under our law, and one of them is intimidating a witness".

Neither Trump nor the White House gave out recordings since then and were reluctant to confirm if such recordings did exist.
