Senate Republicans roll out tweaks to health care bill

It would let insurers provide fewer benefits, offer less generous subsidies than Obama to help people buy policies and end the statute's tax penalties on people who don't buy policies and on larger firms that don't offer coverage to workers.

As HuffPost noted, the Senate bill "is worse for seniors than what the House passed", pointing out that cuts to Medicaid, the "age tax" that allows for insurance companies to charge older people more, and smaller subsidies "puts vulnerable seniors smack in its crosshairs". In that scenario, insurance premiums shoot up for everyone as insurance markets become flooded with customers who disproportionately require expensive treatments.

And the federal government says yeah, states, we're going to pay this much and no more.

Senate Republicans skeptical about a GOP health overhaul bill are expressing some doubt about holding a vote on the measure this week.

"This Senate bill needs to get better", Phillips said.

"This bill may change, but Republicans will only be putting lipstick on a devastating blow to Americans' health care", said Sen. That's more than enough to torpedo the measure developed in private by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell. Montana Sen. Jon Tester said the bill "will protect whistleblowers from the threat of retaliation". These issues can often be delayed, managed, and controlled if we have good health care-and can't be if we don't.

"Sen. Capito is continuing to review and working to improve the health care legislation released last week", said Ashley Berrang, a Capito spokeswoman, Sunday night. The Center on Budget and Policy Priorities did the math: one outcome of the legislation is that three-quarters of a million people would be thrown off of the Medicaid rolls to give the four hundred highest earners in the country a thirty-three-billion-dollar tax cut.

The Senate's bill will repeal the ACA's individual mandate to purchase health insurance and will end Medicaid expansion in a few years, among other provisions.

"We're going to have insurance for everybody", he said.

Fultz exposes Sixers for what they are: A team doing it right
Multiple sports reporters typically break the future picks minutes before Commissioner Adam Silver or Tatum take to the podium. That trend stayed very much on track during Thursday night's National Basketball Association draft.

"What happened was a national disgrace and yet some of the employees involved in these scandals remained on the payrolls", Trump said.

The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office will evaluate the proposal next week. He criticized his critics who question why he hasn't pushed a bill through both chambers to accomplish his major campaign pledge of "completely" repealing and replacing Barack Obama's signature domestic legislative achievement.

Trump has consistently floated the idea of letting Obamacare's individual insurance exchanges "collapse" as a back-up plan if a Republican healthcare bill does not pass.

"I want to see a bill with heart", he said, confirming a switch from his laudatory statements about the House bill at a Rose Garden ceremony with House GOP leaders last month. He is seeking to push a final package through the Senate before the July 4 recess. Ron Johnson, R-Wisconsin, one of the five senators opposing the bill. So it would basically erode the ability of states to pay for their Medicaid programs.

The waiting period is meant to steer people toward maintaining their coverage or purchasing health insurance ahead of a medical emergency, the aide told The Post, adding that the revised Senate bill is unlikely to include other changes at this point.

A Congressional Budget Office analysis of the number of people likely to keep coverage under the bill is due out this week. That is all the more argument for the Senate leadership to back off its arbitrary deadline and give members and the millions who will be affected time to understand what the legislation will actually do.

The conservative quartet said they oppose the initial version, which will be subject to a slew of amendments during floor proceedings, for "a variety of reasons" but declared themselves "open to negotiation and obtaining more information before it is brought to the floor". "I'm not voting for something that looks just like Obamacare".

"This bill that's now in front of the United States Senate is not the answer", Heller, a moderate who is up for re-election in 2018, said at a news conference in Las Vegas.

Trump was interviewed by "Fox & Friends", while Collins, Schumer and Paul appeared on ABC's "This Week".
