North Korea: Otto Warmbier's death a 'mystery to us as well'

"I had to come out to support the family, and also just to show, in my opinion, the North Korean government that we are a dignified country, unlike them", said Koss a 70-year-old Wyoming resident.

In its official statement, China not only said it expressed opposition to the deployment of the US missile defense system in South Korea, but that it also "requested the United States suspend the process and withdraw" THAAD, Yonhap's Beijing correspondent reported. But he was arrested in Pyongyang in January 2016 and, as we have reported, was accused of trying to steal a propaganda poster. Approximately a hundred people were turned away from the funeral as the auditorium holding roughly 2,000 people was filled to capacity.

For most, his casket was the first they had seen of Otto since he went to North Korea - very bad confirmation of the shocking, surreal set of circumstances that had played out since early previous year. Mr. Rodman arrived in North Korea on June 13, the same day news broke that Warmbier had been released.

Warmbier's release coincided with former basketball star Dennis Rodman's latest visit to North Korea, though U.S. national security spokesman Michael Anton denied there was a connection between the two.

Doctors in the United States who examined Warmbier after his release said he had suffered a severe neurological injury from an unknown cause. Officials at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, where he was treated, declined to provide details, and his family asked the Hamilton County Coroner on Tuesday not to perform an autopsy. "He always just lived life to the fullest". A bagpiper played as the coffin was carried to a hearse.

"It would be easy at a moment like this to focus on all that we lost - future time that won't be spent with a warm, engaging, brilliant young man whose curiosity and enthusiasm for life knew no bounds", Fred and Cindy Warmbier said in a statement. While the USA is keen to exert more pressure on Pyongyang it also needs to take account of China's way of doing things.

MISSILE TESTS: US pressures China to impose more sanctions on North Korea
The military said the missile, a Hyunmoo-2 with a range of up to 800 kilometers (nearly 500 miles), hit its target accurately.

North Korea still holds Kim Sang Duk and Kim Hak-song, academics who worked at the Pyongyang University of Science and Technology, and a businessman named Kim Dong Chul.

Tillerson said Wednesday that China had a "diplomatic responsibility to exert much greater economic and diplomatic pressure on the regime if they want to prevent further escalation in the region".

A handout for the funeral featured a photo of Warmbier posing next to his mother and included a quote from his salutatorian speech in 2013: "This is our season finale".

The service was held at the 22-year-old's school in OH, before his burial at a nearby cemetery.

"Everything they say about Otto is very true".
