Dad of freed student says son was 'brutalized'

Mr Warmbier has his fingerprints taken at North Korea's top court

Otto Warmbier, 22, has been in "a state of unresponsive wakefulness" since arriving at an OH hospital after what North Korean officials said was more than a year in a coma, doctor Daniel Kanter said.

Kelly Martin, Senior Director of Communications at University of Cincinnati Health, said that Otto was "in stable condition but received a severe neurological injury". He got 15 years in prison with hard labor for subversion after he tearfully confessed that he had tried to steal a propaganda banner.

Warmbier said soon after his son was captured, the Obama Administration advised them to lay low and not risk offending the North Korean government.

Fred Warmbier's claims come as United States doctors say 22-year-old Otto Warmbier has extensive brain trauma.

He went on to reiterate that Dennis Rodman - who arrived for his fifth trip to North Korea wearing a "Pot Coin" T-shirt right around the time of Otto Warmbier's return - had nothing to do with his son's long-awaited release.

Fred Warmbier says there's relief to have their son home in the arms of those who love him and anger that he was so brutally treated for so long.

North Korean officials reportedly told Mr Warmbier's family on his release on Wednesday that he has been unconscious since contracting botulism and being treated with a sleeping pill. The state-run Korean Central News Agency on Thursday did not comment on his medical condition.

Doctors said after conducting several tests, they haven't found anything that suggests he had contracted botulism. "I'm dealing with my son", Fred Warmbier said.

Supreme Court to Hear Case Gay Wedding and Bakery Case
The commission chose to bring a discrimination case against the bakery, and the state's top court upheld that decision. Rather than bake for same-sex weddings, he stopped making wedding cakes altogether, at a substantial revenue loss.

While they don't know what caused the brain injury, Kanter said it could likely be the result of "cardio pulmonary arrest". His parents say they were told he had been in the coma for more than a year.

When asked what he would say to the North Korean regime, Warmbier said he would say he was proud of Otto.

The regime had said 22-year-old Otto Warmbier's coma was caused last year by botulism and a sleeping pill he took after his trial.

Warmbier said his son "fought to stay alive" while in captivity since January 2016.

Last month, Otto's parents appeared on Fox News. "I told him I missed him and I was so glad that he made it home".

"We don't believe anything they (North Korea) say", said Fred Warmbier, who was wearing a sport coat that Otto Warmbier had worn during a confession to his crimes past year in North Korea that was broadcast.

The family had gone 15 months without hearing a word from Otto.
