Senate GOP health bill: Tax cuts for rich

"The current bill does not repeal Obamacare", his statement read, according to the Guardian.

Four conservative senators expressed opposition but openness to talks: Ted Cruz of Texas, Kentucky's Rand Paul, Mike Lee of Utah and Ron Johnson from Wisconsin. However, the four senators do appear open to negotiations and amendments that could turn their "no" to a "yes". But they add that the measure fails to accomplish what they have promised to their constituents, "to repeal Obamacare and lower their health care costs".

"This is a bill created to strip away health care benefits and protections from Americans who need it most, in order to give a tax break to the folks who need it least", Schumer said.

But McConnell may have a tough job convincing enough Republican senators that the Senate bill improves on the House version. "He cuts health care for those who need it most just to give a tax break for those who need it least". It also repeals the individual mandate penalty under Obamacare, and it would end most of the taxes that paid for the Affordable Care Act.

"The bill takes dollars out of health care for millions of Americans and puts it right back in the pocket of the wealthy", he said.

The American Academy of Pediatrics says the bill would hurt children by scaling back Medicaid.

"At first glance, I have serious concerns about the bill's impact on the Nevadans who depend on Medicaid", Heller said. Susan Collins, R-Maine, said the centrist has some misgivings about the bills as well. The Senate bill would also convert Medicaid funding into a per-capita cap program and offer states the option to apply for funding as a block grant.

She said the fact that thousands of Iowans will lose their health insurance next year is proof something needs to change. "She has met with and heard the concerns of many Mainers about their health care challenges, and she will continue to do so as she studies the impact of this legislation on ME and the nation".

Tory-DUP deal may not be reached by opening of Parliament
We've set out very clearly the fact that her government is in default of the Good Friday Agreement and successor agreements. Adams met Theresa May along with other senior Sinn Féin figures including Michelle O'Neill.

If legislation is to prevail in the Senate, McConnell can lose the support of only two of his 52 Republicans, assuming all 48 Democrats and independents oppose the bill, as expected. The Republican bill isn't a health care plan. And Susan Collins of ME reiterated her opposition to language blocking federal money for Planned Parenthood, which many Republicans oppose because it provides abortions.

While conservatives said they are ready to strike a compromise, some remain skeptical that hard-liners will get on board with the legislation. "Let's be very clear". The most immediate response was a large demonstration at the offices of Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, who oversaw the bill's drafting in complete secrecy and will now attempt to ram it through the upper chamber, much like Speaker Paul Ryan forced his bill through the House before it could be scored by the CBO.

"I look forward to examining this new proposal carefully and reviewing the analysis by the Congressional Budget Office when it is available".

Correction: President Trump was referring to the House health care bill when he described it as "mean".

SEN. CHUCK SCHUMER: The Senate Republican health care bill is a wolf in sheep's clothing. It's a massive transfer of wealth from middle-class and poor families to the richest people in America, ' Obama stated.

When it comes time to buy health insurance, several health policy experts argued, the plans they buy will likely come with such high deductibles and out-of-pocket costs that people will decide not to buy it or be unpleasantly surprised at how little care it covers.

Under the Affordable Care Act (ACA, aka Obamacare), it was a requirement that insurance companies could not charge higher premiums for people with pre-existing conditions.

The bill would phase out the extra money Obama's law provides to states that have expanded coverage under the federal-state Medicaid program for low-income people.
