Saudi Arabia Apologises For Ignoring Minute's Silence Against Australia

On Thursday, June 8, 2017, the entire football fraternity frowned at the decision of the Saudi Arabian players not to obey the one minute's silence for the London terror victims.

While the Australian team lined themselves on the centre circle for a minute's silence with the rest of the jam-packed Australian crowd who were on their feet as well, the Saudi players were busy continuing their warm up for the qualifier game.

Rather than remaining lined up, the Saudis took their positions on the field during the minute's silence, sparking outrage on social media.

With Australia traumatised over both the horrific London Bridge assault and a further attack in Melbourne on Tuesday that claimed one victim, a clearly embarrassed Saudi football federation was quick issue a statement saying it "deeply" regretted the incident and "unreservedly" apologised for their players not "formally" observing the minute's silence.

"The players did not intend any disrespect to the memories of the victims or to cause upset to their families, friends or any individual affected by the atrocity", it added.

U.S. officer acquitted in fatal shooting of black man
The officer asked to see his identification; when he began to pull it out, the officer feared he was going for the gun. Aoro brought flowers Friday to the spot in Falcon Heights, outside Minneapolis, where Castile was shot .

The world watched in shock as some Saudi players took to their positions in their half of the field, while others continued warming up during the minute's silence, Goal writes.

"The Saudi Arabian Football Federation condemns all acts of terrorism and extremism and extends its sincerest condolences to the families of all the victims".

"After reviewing the match report and images of the said match, we can confirm that there are no grounds to take disciplinary action in relation to the matter you mention", Federation Internationale de Football Association said in a statement, Reuters reported. Australian Deputy Prime Minister Barnaby Joyce said that he expected the Saudi Arabian government would take a strong action against the team.

"And you think now that Donald Trump has done a multi-billion-dollar arms deal with that country - it is a disgrace". This isn't about culture.

Among the fatalities were two Australian women, nurse Kirsty Boden and a London-based au pair, Sara Zelenak. "This is about a lack of respect and I thought it was disgraceful".
