Labour Party lives to fight on

Let me explain. For a long time, Greens have been slammed by more tribal elements in Labour for "splitting the vote" and ostensibly costing Labour power.

The research shows that the election campaign, which was meant to cement Theresa May as one of the strongest and most stable leaders in our history, has in fact eroded support for her.

Among the Labour moderates to have rowed back on their criticism of Corbyn in recent days are the former cabinet ministers Peter Mandelson and David Blunkett. The choice will have to be one who can beat Jeremy Corbyn, who unfortunately is on the ascendency.

This didn't translate in to enough seats for Corbyn to become PM - a development that would have shaken Jewish Britain, given his strong sympathy for even hard-line Palestinians, his coolness to Israel, and what many consider a lacklustre response to scandals over anti-Semitism in his party. Their election campaign really made you believe they were a party for the people.

Then: On Mr Corbyn's assertion the Tories were in retreat, Mr Smith told the BBC's Laura Kuenssberg in September previous year: "I think that's delusional".

The Conservative Party now seems in chaos - afraid to keep her, afraid to let her go, trying to hold onto power in alliance with the DUP, a party out of step with the rest of the United Kingdom on abortion, same sex marriage and LGBT rights. "Monty Python, where he's like, 'It's only a flesh wound!' It is getting a bit like that", Ms Philips told an Institute of Government event, adding it would be the "ultimate selfish act" for Mr Corbyn to remain as leader.

But Juve boss Massimiliano Allegri said it was not the end of the road for his side. "They still have lots to give this club". Real Madrid are looking to open up space for signing either Monaco's Kylian Mbappe or Eden Hazard from Chelsea.

The Welsh Labour government and councils have faithfully implemented the cuts to services demanded by the Tory government and Westminster. Under any other leader many of you would have been without a job.

He said the election had struck at the heart of old electoral logic that announcing tax rises before going to the polls could only spell disaster because Labour had provided a "costed manifesto" and pledged not to tax the lowest paid, hardest. It was to be a one-off pact, with the proviso that Labour would need to back proportional representation.

"Over the decades I have seen the change in our country - brought about by both Conservative and Labour governments - some of it very positive and some of it having a lasting, detrimental impact (like Public Private Finance or unrestrained migration)".

The combined vote share of the Conservatives and Labour at this election was 82.4%: the highest in any general election since 1970.

He said: "The people have spoken, and I have the same view now as I had after the European Union referendum vote". When we have a blocked toilet, none of us want a plumber to promise to come and then not show up, nor do we do want a plumber to arrive and simply talk nicely to us about unblocking the toilet and then do nothing. And it paid off, although at some great cost for the Greens, with the party's vote more than halved from 1.2 million votes to 525,000.
