At least 12 people killed in blasts near funeral in Afghan capital

At least six people were killed and 87 others wounded when multiple blasts ripped through a funeral ceremony at a cemetery in the capital Kabul on Saturday, according to a Health Ministry official.

The blasts occurred where the burial ceremony of Mohammad Salem Izedyar, son of the deputy first speaker of the Senate, was taking place.

One of the bloodiest weeks in Kabul for months began with the devastating truck bomb attack in the city's diplomatic zone on Wednesday morning which killed more than 80 people and wounded more than 460.

Riot police used water cannon and tear gas to block protesters from reaching the road leading to the presidential palace.

Embattled President Ashraf Ghani condemned the assault, calling it an "outrageous attack on mourners burying the martyred". "We must be strong and united", said Ghani on Twitter.

It was not clear what caused the three explosions at the funeral, and no group has said it was behind them.

Abdullah Abdullah, the chief executive of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, was in attendance at the funeral at the time of the explosions.

Draymond Green vs. LeBron James: Who will get the last word?
Green regularly posts content on James' "Uninterrupted" video platform, and Jefferson played with Green during the 2012-13 season. At the Warriors' NBA championship victory parade on Thursday, forward Draymond Green appeared to take a shot or two at the Cavs.

He called for an investigation into how the attackers managed to enter the funeral service where high-ranking government officials were present.

Saturday's violence capped a week that saw a devastating bomb blast in the heart of Kabul's heavily militarized diplomatic zone, that claimed almost 100 lives, and anti-government protests Friday that left with six dead.

"Many people have been killed and wounded at the funeral of Salim Ezadyar", Abdul Wudood, son of a prominent Afghan politician, told AFP.

"The country is under attack", Ghani said. The Islamic State (IS) terrorist group, outlawed in Russian Federation, claimed responsibility for the attack.

The string of high-profile attacks has raised serious concerns about the ability of Afghan authorities and security forces to provide even the most basic levels of protection for its citizens.

As anger against the government has grown, Ghani's global partners have become increasingly alarmed, with the United Nations calling for restraint.

The US has about 8,400 troops in Afghanistan, while another 5,000 from North Atlantic Treaty Organisation allies are in the country.
