US, China to hold diplomatic, security talks on June 21

The Associated Press reports that USA authorities have accused a Chinese company of helping North Korea evade financial sanctions.

USA officials allege Mingzheng International Trading moved funds through the United States for Foreign Trade Bank, a major North Korean lender that's under sanctions.

In an effort to deprive North Korea of the funds and materials to advance its nuclear and ballistic missile programs, the USA, together with other members of the global community, have been targeting North Korea's trade links with sanctions.

Previous investigations by the United Nations and the US have also found evidence they say shows North Korea is using networks of front companies to gain access to global banks.

The post U.S., China To Meet On North Korea Wednesday appeared first on leadership.ng. China strongly criticized the move, accusing the US of forcing its laws on other countries.

However, Lu said the Foreign Trade Bank is not on the Security Council sanctions list.

Police on Saturday claimed that no attack took place on the force's camp in Bijbehara in southern Kashmir's Islamabad district. The militants opened fire at the CRPF camp after which the security forces retaliated to it.

Beijing has always been North Korea's main source of aid and diplomatic support but President Xi Jinping's government is showing growing frustration with Pyongyang's pursuit of nuclear weapons.

"Sanctions laws are critical to our national security and foreign policy interests, and this case demonstrates that we will seek significant remedies for those companies that violate them", said U.S. Attorney Channing D.

The US government is seeking to forfeit US$1.9 million that was transacted in October and November of 2015 by Mingzheng, via wire transfers, using their Chinese bank accounts.

Mattis said those efforts include continuing to press for help from China, a longtime ally of North Korea and its largest trading partner.

In March 2013, the US Treasury Department placed the Foreign Trade Bank under sanctions linked to proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.

On Tuesday, Tillerson said Washington was considering imposing "secondary sanctions" on foreign firms doing business with North Korea and had been in discussions with Beijing about the activities of entities inside China.
