Trump to file complaint against Comey for memo leak

Ex-FBI director James Comey testified at the Senate Intelligence Committee hearing, just one month after he was sacked from his position by U.S. President Donald Trump. But why didn't you stop and say, 'Mr. Comey said in his opening statement that his leadership team at the FBI agreed not to share this with Sessions for the following reason: "We concluded it made little sense to report it to Attorney General Sessions, who we expected would likely recuse himself from involvement in Russia-related investigations".

Blumenthal and Graham are members of the Senate Judiciary Committee, which has pushed to have Comey appear to answer more questions about his interactions with Trump and other senior officials.

His testimony was emotional when he spoke of his colleagues at the Federal Bureau of Investigation, dramatic when he used shorthand to describe speaking with Trump about a potentially damaging dossier ("I was anxious it would be a kind of a J. Edgar Hoover-type situation") and surprisingly human when he recounted the conversation with the president in which they went back and forth on what time to meet for dinner: 6 or 6:30?

Finding that out, as Comey noted, is now up to the special counsel, Robert Mueller.

The department's statement did not directly respond to Comey's comment that he was "aware of facts" that would make Sessions' continued involvement in the Russian Federation probe problematic.

Still, there was no doubt the veteran lawman made for a challenging adversary.

Comey drove that message home when asked how we could move beyond the he said-he said situation. "I was sacked in some way to change, or the endeavor was to change, the way the Russian Federation investigation was being conducted".

"That is a very big deal, and not just because it involves me". According to Comey, earlier this year President Trump asked Attorney General Jeff Sessions and adviser Jared Kushner to leave the room so he could talk privately with Comey. I know the Oval Office, and I know what happens to people when they walk in. Unless those trying to spin away Comey's words are also willing to take an oath, their spin can be ignored.

The issue is whether Trump tried to direct Comey to stop investigating former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn's ties to Russian Federation.

Merkel urges speedy Brexit talks after UK vote
Merkel acknowledged that "when there is a will to reach an accord, compromise solutions will have to be accepted ". On Friday she'll be in Mexico , but first, Merkel met with Argentine President Mauricio Macri, in Buenos Aires.

"I was honestly concerned that he might lie about the nature of our meeting, so I thought it really important to document", he said.

"I took it as a direction", Comey told the committee.

"I woke up in the middle of the night on Monday night, because it didn't dawn on me originally, that there might be corroboration for our conversation, there might be a tape", Comey said.

"What was briefed to me by my folks ... at the time is that they had gotten the information from the private party that they needed to understand the intrusion by the spring of 2016", Comey said.

"If we had a plan that gave you the greatest health care ever in history, you wouldn't get one Democrat vote because they are obstructionists", Trump said. Telemundo, in the moments before Comey started, also showed a simulated reconstruction of Trump and Comey meeting in the White House, with conversations in Spanish printed in cartoon-like bubbles over their heads.

The committee has also sent a letter to Mr Comey, asking for any notes or memoranda in his possession that would describe discussions he had with Mr Trump. The committee is seeking the materials by June 23.

Comey testified that after Trump tweeted a threat that he had tapes of their conversations, Comey asked a friend to leak one of his unclassified memos to the press in hopes it would trigger the appointment of a special counsel.

And he said multiple times that he choose to take detailed notes about his interactions with Trump because he anxious the White House and President would lie about them if he didn't.

Worse, not only did Comey land Lynch in hot water and damage any shred of credibility she may have had left, he also tarnished his own name by not reporting that bombshell last spring.
